Nova Threads (PDO)
Nova Threads are used to treat lower-face laxity and facial wrinkles. They work especially well to tighten skin on the neck, lower and midface, and jawline, to restore the face's youthful V-shape. This is achieved by placing a small needle below the skin, parallel to the surface, and leaving a thread behind. The thread is then pulled, tightening the loose skin and giving the face a gentle lift.
How does it work?
Nova Threads are composed of a unique material called polydiazanone. Polydiozanone is used in a plethora of biomedical applications, most notably cardiothoracic surgery because it is fully absorbed via hydrolysis within 4-6 months and doesn't create any scar tissue. When placed below the skin, the body is naturally inclined to enhance collagen production, strengthening the structure of the skin. When the sutures dissolve, this collagen matrix helps hold the skin tight for another 12 to 15 months.
